1st jab was today

I had my well visit today with Dr. Price.

I am 19 lb 5 oz and 27.5 ” long.

Got my DTaP jab today – think Mommy was more nervous then me! I didn’t even feel it, as Dr. Price jabbed me in my butt cheek while Mommy was holding me in the “collic” hold (I was hanging along her forearm like a Koala bear). Went on being cute and smiley, and happy as ever. Mommy had to have a cup of calming cammomile tea when we got home though.

Yummy toes!

I’m a natural yogini! And I love sucking on my toes – forget my thumbs! Mommy realized my flexibility while traveling to NYC last week and was using disposables (perhaps ‘cos there’s not so much bulk), and so we may start using disposable diapers during play time, so that I am more mobile and agile. I am also able to sit on my own much longer than with the cloth diapers, as I can control being upright more and won’t tip over. We might still stick to the cloth diapers for overnight though as they are healthier for my skin.

… while in NYC

Mommy took me to the Mommy and Baby yoga class offered at the Integral Yoga Institute, which was taught by Jyothi Larson (who was Mommy’s teacher for her becoming a teacher of such classes). Jyothi was very sweet and funny (making sneazing jokes with toys falling off her head – hehe). She also gave some wonderful encouraging words and advice for Mommy’s class back in Philly. Mommy wishes she had classes like hers to take us to back in Philly. It’s such a treat for Mommy to be a student rather than teach, as much as she loves to teach with me.

After yoga class, we went to a delcicious little cafe nearby, as per the advice of one of the Mommies we met: S’Nice. Mommy had a yummy roasted veg and goat cheese sandwich, and I had a few of her roasted zuchinni.

We then headed back to the train station and waited around for Daddy. We boarded without him, as we thought he probably didn’t make it if he hadn’t met up with us. Well, he surprised us as he came upon our seats in the train and sat with us! We had a very comfy journey and it sure was nice to have Mommy and Daddy there too.

Going to NYC today!

Mommy took me on the train to 30th Street train station and then onto the Amtrak bound for NYC! I was very well behaved and we were lucky to have an extra seat, so that I can sit and play and lie about. I was fascinated with the little vent holes under the train window!

It was bright in NYC when we got there. While at the hotel, I played on the bolster – it was loads of fun as I bounced and surfed and scrached its smooth surface.

We went out that night for dinner at a New Orleans style cuisine restaurant with Silpa and Arun, although I slept through the 1st half in Mommy’s arms, before I began to burn out and need to sleep.

my 1st day of cereal

Mommy got the Baby Bjorn feeding spoons in the mail today and was eager to try them out on me, along with the organic multi-grain baby cereal. I had a great time getting it all over my face and hands, but I also did eat some – hehehe. It wasn’t as yucky and plain as it seemed (not as exciting as watermelon!).

1st tooth

After a few weeks of wanting to chew on everything, my first tooth is finally budding – on the front bottom left. Mommy said that she got me special feeding spoons and I should be starting to try out some of that yummy multi-grain cereal this week.

Also, Mommy went to The Birth Center yesterday for her check-up, and Gezelle (Mommy’s favourite of the midwives who will be retiring this year) and Nancy (Mommy’s 2nd favourite midwife, and who welcomed me from Mommy’s cosy womb) got to see me too and they said that I look like a bit of Mommy and a bit of Daddy too. They loved my chubby cheeks, delicious smile and sparkly eyes but of course. Also, Mommy’s doing very well and is back to her pre-pregancy healthy weight. Meanwhile, I got weighed by Mommy holding me and I must be about 20 lbs now! No wonder my Mommy’s wrists hurt from handling me.

2) Sleepytime Farm (A Move-Along Beads book by FisherPrice)

3) When I Grown Up (a Look and Find book from Dora The Explorer)

Survived another week without Grandmas

We’ve made it! Last week was manageable with Daddy in London, and no loving Grandmas (Grandma Marusia from Vancouver and Grandma Wendy from the Isle of Wight) in the house to keep us company. Mommy and I developed our own routine, as much as we could what with babies changing their tune as and when they need. We started our day with a few changings, I was playing in my “play station” or “exer-saucer”, and Mommy making herself a quick breakfast. Then Mommy plays with me on the blanket (either seating me in the Boppy pillow – I’m seating by myself a lot lately – getting strong!). Then a feeding and a nap for me. Mommy does errands like clean-up or catching up with e-mail or reading until I wake. Then a nappy change followed by more play between blanket (I’ve also been more and more comfortable playing on her belly! I can reach out for toys while on my belly and love it.) and exer-saucer or we look at a book together (my favourite one at the moment seems to be the Dora The Explorer “When I grow Up” – my favourite page is about Isa the asotronaut and Dora using her telescope to look at the deep blue sky – even though Mommy isn’t a big fan of Dora, but I am!). Then after lunch there’s another nap (and another chance for Mommy to do stuff or to rest). Then I wake for another round of play/a walk in the neighbourhood or a swing on the swings (before Mommy bundles me away back home in flight from the devouring mosquitoes – they LOVE Mommy, fortunately for me I’ve not been the target yet).

Now that Daddy’s back from the UK, we have to work him into the equation (Mommy tries to still put me down for my nap before our dinner, but Mommy’s got prepare dinner too, so that’s a bit tricky, so sometimes Mommy has me sit in my high chair and I watch/supervise her cullenary efforts); and I need to start winding down between 7:30 and 8:30 pm which is often when Daddy and Mommy try to sit down to watch a film or just to relax after a meal, if Daddy’s not crashed on the couch already from working from the wee hours in the morning – yup, he’s at it again this week as he’s working on something big again), so our routine is changing again. Yesterday Daddy played with me to give Mommy a break with her book and a chance to take a shower in the evening.

At the Mt Airy Village Fair the other weekend, Mommy found a nice children’s songs CD with 90 songs which she plans on learning to sing along as another idea for play with me. We should be getting it soon – really looking forward to it :)

Anyhow, we do miss the wonderful company from my Grandmas a whole lot. It’s awfully quiet without them always around. I sure look forward to seeing them again.

My first concert

Mommy and Daddy took me to my first live concert to watch – Ben Harper in Philadelphia. It was very cool. Baby Jolie and her Mommy and Daddy were there too, and there were a few other little kids about. I got to wear the cute baby blue ear protector muffs like a proper rockin’ baby. It sure worked, ‘cos I slept right through it all :)

I’ve got feet!

Today I was in the bath, and while Mommy had me sit up so that she can wash my back, I was looking down at my toes and feet which were in the water. It was fun to put my hands in the water too and look at my fingers wiggle about!
